DOCS

This page explains what TerraBBs are made of and collects publicly available documentation related to the materials (e.g., lab testing and patents). The goal is to make our material choices and what can be verified as clear as possible.

Documentation under NDA

Some documentation (such as detailed composition data, the exact polymer grade, and certain test reports and certification materials) contains proprietary and commercially sensitive information and is therefore not published publicly. Where needed, we can share additional documentation under a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) with relevant professional parties, such as research or regulatory partners, retailers, field operators, and event organizers.

If you require additional documentation for evaluation or verification purposes, please contact us and describe your use case.

What are TerraBB made of?

Polymer: bio-based PBS (the exact polymer grade is kept confidential).

Fillers:

  • Titanium dioxide
  • Aluminium oxide
  • Silicon dioxide
  • Barium sulphate
  • Calcium carbonate
  • Cerium oxide

Certifications

TÜV OK compost HOME (polymer grade)

The polymer grade used in TerraBB has TÜV OK compost HOME certification (polymer-level certification).

Important clarification:

  • This certification applies to the polymer grade as certified.
  • The finished TerraBB includes required fillers/additives, and product-level certification is a separate process.

Finished BB certification status

At this time, we have not applied for a product-level compostability certification for the finished TerraBB (finished formulation + fillers/additives).

Product-level certification is a separate and costly process, and it has been postponed to a later phase. We prefer to state this clearly rather than imply a certification we do not have.

Lab tests

TerraBB 0,20g TRUEBIO precision airsoft BBs

FTIR analysis (finished TerraBB)

We have performed FTIR (Fourier Transform Infrared) analysis on the finished TerraBB as a material “fingerprint” check (spectrum comparison to reference materials).

Based on reference spectrum comparisons, the sample did not identify as:

  • Polyvinyl chloride (PVC)
  • Polyethylene terephthalate (PET)
  • Polyethylene (PE)
  • Polypropylene (PP)
  • Polystyrene (PS)
  • Polylactic acid (PLA)
  • Acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS)

Note: FTIR is a material identification method and not a biodegradability/compostability certification.

PFAS testing — Total Fluorine (finished TerraBB)

PFAS laboratory test report (PDF): Download

Total Fluorine analysis measures the overall fluorine content of the sample and is commonly used as a screening method for PFAS-related compounds. Low total fluorine levels indicate that PFAS compounds are absent or present only at trace levels.
